British Aerospace RJ-70

The British Aerospace Avro RJ70 is the smallest member of the re-engined, modernised Avro RJ family, developed from the earlier BAe 146-100 with quieter, more efficient engines and an updated cockpit. Like its 146 forebears, its four smaller engines rather than the usual two let it meet strict noise limits at airports located close to residential areas, keeping it welcome at noise-restricted city airports. It's the least common of the three RJ variants, since most airlines preferred the extra capacity of the larger RJ85 and RJ100. A small number remain in regional airline and corporate service today, valued specifically for their quiet operation into constrained city airports.

In CatchFlights

In CatchFlights the British Aerospace RJ-70 starts as a Rare catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you.

A catch counts for the manufacturer British Aerospace, the BAe 146/Avro RJ family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
