Boeing 737-600
The Boeing 737-600 is the smallest member of the '737 Next Generation' family, built to replace the earlier 737-500 with a new wing, modern cockpit displays, and improved engines. Its size put it in direct competition with the Airbus A318, though it sold in noticeably higher numbers than that rival. Airlines generally used it on lower-demand routes where the larger -700 or -800 would have flown with too many empty seats. It remains one of the least common Next Generation variants, since most airlines preferred the extra capacity of its bigger siblings.
