Atr ATR-42-500
The ATR 42-500 is an upgraded version of the original ATR 42 regional turboprop, fitted with more powerful engines, six-blade propellers, and a modernised cockpit. Those changes improved its climb performance and cut cabin noise compared with earlier ATR 42 models. It remains popular with regional airlines that need to serve shorter routes and smaller airports than a jet can economically fly. Several have also been converted into dedicated cargo freighters later in their working lives.

Did you know?
Six-blade propellers and a modernised cockpit set the ATR 42-500 apart from the original ATR 42, with better climb and lower cabin noise.
