Airbus A-220-100
The Airbus A220-100 is the smaller of the two A220 variants, seating around 100 to 135 passengers, and began life as the Bombardier CSeries CS100 before Airbus took over the program in 2018. Its clean-sheet composite wing and new engines give it noticeably lower fuel burn than older aircraft of a similar size. It fills a gap between the largest regional jets and the smallest mainline narrow-bodies that, for years, few manufacturers seriously competed in. Airlines have generally ordered the larger A220-300 in far greater numbers than this smaller sibling.
