Embraer SC-95 Bandeirante
The Embraer EMB 110 Bandeirante was Brazil's first successful indigenously designed airliner, launching Embraer as a serious aircraft manufacturer and establishing the company's long-running regional aircraft business. Its rugged, unpressurised airframe suited the short, often unpaved airstrips common across Brazil's interior, where it opened up air travel to communities with no other reliable transport link. Several air forces adopted armed and surveillance versions for light attack and maritime patrol duties. Decades after its 1968 first flight, a number of Bandeirantes remain in active cargo and utility service across South America.
