Boeing 747SR
The Boeing 747SR ('Short Range') is a specialised version built almost exclusively for Japanese domestic routes, where 747s flew extremely short hops between major cities packed with passengers. Because those flights involved many more takeoffs and landings per day than a typical long-haul 747, its airframe and landing gear were reinforced to handle far more pressurisation and landing cycles over its life. Some SR models were configured with an extremely high-density seating layout, carrying more passengers than almost any other 747 variant. Very few were built, and they're rarely seen outside Japan even in aviation history circles.

In CatchFlights
In CatchFlights the Boeing 747SR starts as a Legendary catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you. The first catch of a legendary type pays a bonus of its own.
A catch counts for the manufacturer Boeing, the 747 family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
