Sikorsky S-58T
The Sikorsky S-58T is a turbine conversion of the S-58, a helicopter originally powered by a large radial piston engine. Replacing that engine with a pair of PT6 turboshafts made the venerable airframe lighter, more reliable, and noticeably more capable in hot or high conditions. The conversion extended the working life of many former military and offshore helicopters. Its long nose and high cabin still reveal the S-58’s 1950s origins despite the modernised powerplants.
