Pzl-Mielec M-24 Dromader Super

The M-24 Dromader Super was WSK-Mielec's push in the opposite direction from the M-21 Mini: a bigger, more powerful evolution of the M-18 Dromader crop duster for large-scale aerial application. The first of four prototypes flew in July 1987 with a 987-horsepower Shvetsov radial, followed by a PZL-Kalisz-powered M-24B and a Pratt & Whitney PT6A-45AG turboprop M-24T variant. None of the three engine options carried the type into production, but the development effort was not wasted: its lessons fed directly into the PZL K-9-powered M-18B, which did reach Dromader customers in 1993.

Did you know?

The 'Super' of the Dromader line was PZL-Mielec's bid to outgrow the M-18, trialling Shvetsov, PZL-Kalisz, and turboprop engines before its lessons fed into the M-18B.
