Nord 1200 Norecrin

The Nord 1200 Norécrin was a French cabin monoplane developed to win a postwar transport-ministry design competition, first flying on 15 December 1945 with a 140hp Renault engine after its intended, smaller Mathis powerplant proved unavailable. The low-wing, retractable-gear design grew from an original three-seat production version, the Norécrin I, into four-seat civil variants and even a two-seat military model armed with machine guns and rockets. In total, 378 were built across its variants, making it one of the more successful light French touring aircraft of the immediate postwar years, popular with flying clubs into the 1950s and beyond.
