Mikoyan MiG-25
The Mikoyan MiG-25 Foxbat was built to intercept very fast, high-flying threats and could exceed Mach 2.8 using enormous engines. Western analysts initially assumed it was a highly agile super-fighter, but the 1976 defection of Viktor Belenko revealed a rugged, mostly steel interceptor optimised for speed and altitude. Its huge square intakes and twin tail fins are unmistakable. The MiG-25’s performance drove major Western fighter-development decisions during the Cold War.

In CatchFlights
In CatchFlights the Mikoyan MiG-25 starts as a Legendary catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you. The first catch of a legendary type pays a bonus of its own.
A catch counts for the manufacturer Mikoyan, the MiG-25 family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
