Iai 1124 Westwind
The 1124 Westwind is the turbofan-re-engined end of the Jet Commander family. After Israel Aircraft Industries bought the type from Rockwell in 1968 and stretched it into the 1123, it swapped the original General Electric CJ610 turbojets for Garrett TFE731 turbofans and delivered the 1124 from 1976, with the winglet-fitted 1124A Westwind II following in 1980. Its mid-mounted wing sets it apart from the low-winged jets of its class, and the airframe spawned the IAI Sea Scan maritime patrol aircraft. A total of 442 Jet Commanders and Westwinds were built by 1987, and the design's direct descendant is the IAI Astra.

Did you know?
The Westwind carries the Jet Commander's unusual mid-mounted wing, which you won't find on the low-wing business jets around it.
