Honda HA-420 HondaJet

The Honda HA-420 HondaJet is Honda's first aircraft and the first light jet to mount its two GE Honda HF120 turbofans on pylons above the wing rather than on the tail or under the wing. The over-the-wing layout removes the need for a reinforced aft-fuselage carry-through structure, freeing cabin space for a wider six-to-seven-seat interior and, Honda says, cutting cruise drag. A proof-of-concept prototype first flew in December 2003 after research beginning in the 1990s, and the composite-fuselage HA-420 received FAA certification in December 2015. Honda Aircraft Company has since led very light jet deliveries for several consecutive years.

In CatchFlights

In CatchFlights the Honda HA-420 HondaJet starts as a Uncommon catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you.

A catch counts for the manufacturer Honda, the HA-420 HondaJet family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.

Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
