Dg Flugzeugbau DG-1000T

The DG-1000, which first flew at Speyer, Germany in July 2000, succeeded the long-serving DG-500 as DG Flugzeugbau's two-seat trainer and cross-country glider, offered with a choice of 18 or 20 metre wings. The DG-1000T adds a small retractable Solo two-stroke engine on a pylon behind the tandem cockpits, geared down to turn a folding carbon propeller; unlike a true self-launcher, it exists mainly to sustain a flight that would otherwise end in an outlanding, not to get the glider airborne unassisted. Fitted with the shorter 18 metre wings, the type keeps the unpowered airframe's full aerobatic clearance of +7/-5g, a rating few motorised two-seat gliders retain.

The T marks the motorglider version: a small Solo engine on a pylon behind the tandem seats exists mostly to get you home, not to take off.
