Boeing NC-135

The Boeing C-135 family was developed from the same basic jet transport as the KC-135 tanker and became a remarkably adaptable military platform. Variants have served as command posts, weather reconnaissance aircraft, VIP transports, intelligence collectors, and flying laboratories. The catalogue’s C135 designation therefore covers a lineage rather than one passenger aircraft. Its narrow fuselage and four turbojets reflect the first generation of long-range jet transports, yet some examples still support specialised missions today.

The C-135's swept wings and four underslung engines echo the Boeing 707's, since both trace back to the same Boeing 367-80 prototype.

In CatchFlights

In CatchFlights the Boeing NC-135 starts as a Legendary catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you. The first catch of a legendary type pays a bonus of its own.

A catch counts for the manufacturer Boeing, the NC-135 family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.

Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
