Boeing 727-100RE Super 27

The Super 27 was a re-engining conversion for the Boeing 727-100, replacing the original engines with quieter, more efficient JT8D-217 turbofans. The modification improved fuel burn, takeoff performance, and noise compliance, extending the life of older trijets. Some conversions also received aerodynamic improvements such as winglets. The result was a rare late-life variant of an airliner normally associated with the noisy first generation of jet travel.

In CatchFlights

In CatchFlights the Boeing 727-100RE Super 27 starts as a Legendary catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you. The first catch of a legendary type pays a bonus of its own.

A catch counts for the manufacturer Boeing, the 727-100RE Super 27 family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.

Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
