Aviat A-1 Husky
The Aviat Husky is a tandem two-seat, high-wing taildragger built in Afton, Wyoming, conceived by Christen Industries as a tougher, modernized successor to the Piper Super Cub for backcountry bush flying. First certified in 1987, it was reportedly the first all-new American light aircraft designed on a CAD system rather than a drafting board, at a time when few wholly new US light aircraft were reaching the market. Bungee-sprung main gear and a leaf-spring tailwheel, paired with strong short-field climb performance, suit unimproved gravel bars and mountain strips, and more than 650 had been sold within its first two decades of production.

In CatchFlights
In CatchFlights the Aviat A-1 Husky starts as a Uncommon catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you.
A catch counts for the manufacturer Aviat, the A-1 Husky family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
