Aero (1) Commander 680E

The Commander 680E, introduced in 1957 and nicknamed the Super, stretched the Aero Commander's wingspan and fitted supercharged 340-horsepower engines, giving it the power to seat five to seven occupants. The US Air Force selected the type as a presidential transport for Dwight Eisenhower, acquiring fifteen examples under the military designation L-26C, with two based at the White House for the president's personal use. That government service, alongside the type's role as a business aircraft for corporate flight departments, made the 680E one of the best-known Aero Commander variants of the 1950s twin-piston line.
