Zivko Edge 540

The Zivko Edge 540 is a single-seat, steel-tube-framed aerobatic monoplane built by Zivko Aeronautics in Guthrie, Oklahoma, first flown in 1996 and powered by a Lycoming engine tuned to roughly 310 horsepower. Its composite, symmetrical-airfoil wing and 420-degree-per-second roll rate let it sustain loads beyond 15G, making it a dominant type on the Unlimited aerobatics circuit since the late 1990s. When the Red Bull Air Race World Series began in 2003, the Edge 540 quickly became its most widely flown aircraft, powering competitors to eight championship titles between 2004 and 2010 and remaining a mainstay of the low-altitude pylon-racing format.

In CatchFlights

In CatchFlights the Zivko Edge 540 starts as a Rare catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you.
