Zivko Edge 540 T
The Zivko Edge 540T is the tandem two-seat derivative of Zivko Aeronautics' single-seat Edge 540 aerobatic monoplane, introduced in 2004 for dual-control instruction and display flying. It shares its steel-tube fuselage and composite wing with the solo aircraft but carries a slightly more powerful, 327-horsepower Lycoming AEIO-540 engine to compensate for the second occupant and added instrumentation. Air race and airshow organisations use the type to train and check pilots destined for the single-seat Edge 540, letting an instructor fly the same handling qualities and roll rates from the back seat before a pilot solos the racing variant.

Did you know?
Look for two seats in tandem: this is the dual-control trainer air racers use to learn the solo Edge 540 from the front seat.

In CatchFlights
In CatchFlights the Zivko Edge 540 T starts as a Rare catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you.
A catch counts for the manufacturer Zivko, the Edge 540 T family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
