Sonaca S-2
The Sonaca S-2, marketed as the Sonaca 200, is a low-wing, all-metal two-seat trainer built on the airframe of the South African Sling 2, after Sonaca Group and Sling designer The Airplane Factory formed the joint venture Sonaca Aircraft in 2015. Powered by a turbocharged 115 hp Rotax 914, it was EASA-certified in June 2018 for flight schools wanting a modern, glass-cockpit-equipped primary trainer. Because Sonaca licensed the underlying design from Sling's South African originator, the same basic airframe is also built and sold worldwide as the Sling 2 and Sling LSA, sharing this ICAO type designator.

In CatchFlights
In CatchFlights the Sonaca S-2 starts as a Uncommon catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you.
A catch counts for the manufacturer Sonaca, the S-2 family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
