Sikorsky S-97 Raider
The Sikorsky S-97 Raider is a high-speed scout helicopter that combines rigid coaxial rotors with a rear pusher propeller. The coaxial rotors eliminate the need for a tail rotor, while the propeller provides extra thrust in forward flight. It was developed to demonstrate technology for future US Army reconnaissance missions and first flew in 2015. Its compact fuselage and unusual propeller make it one of the most striking modern rotorcraft prototypes.

Despite its scout-helicopter role, the S-97's cabin can carry up to six troops, blurring the line between reconnaissance and light assault aircraft.

In CatchFlights
In CatchFlights the Sikorsky S-97 Raider starts as a Legendary catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you. The first catch of a legendary type pays a bonus of its own.
A catch counts for the manufacturer Sikorsky, the S-97 Raider family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
