Short S-25 Sandringham
The Short Sandringham was a civil airliner conversion of the wartime Short Sunderland flying boat. It retained the Sunderland’s large hull and four engines but replaced military equipment with passenger cabins for long routes over water. Airlines used Sandringhams in Australia, the Pacific, and South America where suitable runways were scarce. Its tall hull and broad wing made it one of the last great British flying-boat airliners.

Did you know?
Sandringham cabins were fitted out with lounges and sleeping berths, a holdover from an era when flying-boat routes doubled as luxury ocean-liner-style travel.

A catch counts for the manufacturer Short, the S-25 Sandringham family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
