Shark Aero Shark

The Shark is a fast, low-wing tandem-seat light-sport aircraft built by Shark.Aero in Senica, Slovakia, first flown on 19 August 2009. Its carbon-fibre airframe and retractable gear give it a cruise speed near 290 km/h on a 100 hp Rotax 912, brisk for a two-seat LSA, while still needing only about 190 metres to take off. The type gained wider recognition in 2021 to 2022 when 19-year-old Belgian-British pilot Zara Rutherford flew a Shark UL solo around the world, becoming the youngest woman to circumnavigate the globe and the first woman to do so in a microlight aircraft.

The Shark is the microlight that circled the globe solo in 2022, a carbon tandem LSA so quick it blurs the line with sport planes.

In CatchFlights

In CatchFlights the Shark Aero Shark starts as a Uncommon catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you.

A catch counts for the manufacturer Shark Aero, the Shark family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
