Schleicher ASG-32Mi

The ASG 32 Mi is the self-launching version of Alexander Schleicher's two-seat, T-tailed competition glider, sharing its 20-metre wingspan, double-panel Schempp-Hirth airbrakes and water ballast tanks with the pure ASG 32 sailplane the family is based on. Instead of the electric motor used by the ASG 32 El variant, it carries a small retractable Wankel-type piston engine driving a two-blade propeller, letting the crew climb to working altitude independently before folding the engine away into the fuselage. First flown as a prototype in 2014, it entered production in 2015 for pilots and clubs wanting cross-country range without ground-launch logistics.

In CatchFlights

In CatchFlights the Schleicher ASG-32Mi starts as a Rare catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you.

A catch counts for the manufacturer Schleicher, the ASG-32Mi family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.

Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
