Scheibe SF 25 Falke

The Scheibe SF 25 Falke, first flown in 1963, is a two-seat touring motor glider developed from Scheibe's Bergfalke sailplane, combining a glider's slender 15-metre wing with a small nose-mounted engine that can be throttled back for soaring flight. Early aircraft used the Hirth F10, while the long-running SF-25C is offered with Rotax 912 engines up to 115 horsepower, improving climb over the original low-powered versions. With a glide ratio around 23:1 engine-off, it lets pilots combine powered cross-country legs with genuine thermal soaring in a single airframe.

In CatchFlights the Scheibe SF 25 Falke starts as a Common catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you.

A catch counts for the manufacturer Scheibe, the SF 25 Falke family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
