Saab 32 Lansen
The Saab 32 Lansen was a Swedish all-weather attack and reconnaissance aircraft designed for low-level strikes over the Baltic. It carried radar in its long nose and had a crew of two seated in tandem beneath a broad canopy. Lansen variants served as attack aircraft, fighters, reconnaissance platforms, and electronic-warfare trainers for decades. Its name means ‘Lance’, appropriate for a jet designed to penetrate at speed through poor Nordic weather.

Did you know?
The Lansen's wing combines a swept leading edge with a straight trailing edge, an unusual mixed-sweep shape aimed at balancing high speed with docile handling.

In CatchFlights
In CatchFlights the Saab 32 Lansen starts as a Legendary catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you. The first catch of a legendary type pays a bonus of its own.
A catch counts for the manufacturer Saab, the 32 Lansen family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
