Reiner Stemme Q-01
The Reiner Stemme Q-01 is an unusual optionally-piloted aircraft, built with the tall, high-aspect-ratio wing and slender fuselage of a high-performance sailplane rather than a conventional drone airframe. Developed by Reiner Stemme Utility Air Systems, whose founder also created the Stemme motor-glider company, it was funded by Qatar and unveiled at the ILA Berlin air show in 2016 as the Q01 MALE (medium-altitude, long-endurance) platform. It can be flown by an onboard pilot or switched to full unmanned operation, in which mode it is rated for roughly 50 hours of continuous endurance for surveillance and border-protection missions.
