North American F-82 Twin Mustang
The North American F-82 Twin Mustang joined two Mustang-derived fuselages on a single wing to create an exceptionally long-range escort fighter. It had two pilots, two engines, and the range to escort bombers deep into hostile territory, a mission single-seat fighters struggled to perform. The F-82 is credited with the first US Air Force aerial victory of the Korean War. Its paired fuselages make it one of the most unusual piston fighters ever placed in service.
