North American F-100 Super Sabre
The North American F-100 Super Sabre was the first US fighter capable of sustained supersonic flight in level conditions. It served as an air-superiority fighter before becoming a major fighter-bomber in Vietnam, where it flew more combat missions than any other American fighter type. Its swept wing and prominent chin intake marked a new generation of US jets after the Korean War. The F-100 also equipped the Thunderbirds display team in its early supersonic era.

Did you know?
Pilots called it 'the Hun,' and its early tendency to snap into a violent yaw-roll known as the 'Sabre Dance' cost several aircraft before fixes arrived.

In CatchFlights
In CatchFlights the North American F-100 Super Sabre starts as a Legendary catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you. The first catch of a legendary type pays a bonus of its own.
A catch counts for the manufacturer North American, the F-100 Super Sabre family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
