Mil Mi-14
The Mil Mi-14 adapted the ubiquitous Mi-8's rotor system and engines onto a new, boat-shaped hull fuselage, built specifically for anti-submarine warfare and search-and-rescue missions over open water. That watertight hull lets it land directly on calm water in an emergency, a capability the standard land-based Mi-8 lacks entirely. It served Soviet and Warsaw Pact naval aviation for decades, hunting submarines with dipping sonar and sonobuoys deployed from its cabin. A number remain in active service today with Russia, Ukraine, and several former Soviet allied states for maritime patrol and rescue duties.

In CatchFlights
In CatchFlights the Mil Mi-14 starts as a Legendary catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you. The first catch of a legendary type pays a bonus of its own.
A catch counts for the manufacturer Mil, the Mi-14 family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
