Mikoyan MiG-19
The Shenyang J-6 was China’s version of the MiG-19, the first Soviet fighter capable of sustained supersonic flight in level conditions. China built the type in very large numbers and later adapted many for training, reconnaissance, and drone-target roles. Its two engines and swept wings gave it much more speed than the earlier J-5, though it remained simple by later standards. The J-6 became one of the most numerous combat aircraft ever built in China.

In CatchFlights
In CatchFlights the Mikoyan MiG-19 starts as a Legendary catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you. The first catch of a legendary type pays a bonus of its own.
A catch counts for the manufacturer Mikoyan, the MiG-19 family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
