Lak LAK-20M

The LAK-20M is the self-launching version of the Lithuanian LAK-20 Vega, an Open Class two-seat sailplane whose outer wing panels can be swapped to fly at either 23 or 26 metres of span, tailoring the glider to different tasks. A retractable 47 kW Solo engine lets it take off under its own power rather than needing a tow, folding away once airborne to keep drag low. Composite construction, a T-tail, and retractable gear reflect its competition pedigree. Only a handful of prototypes were completed before LAK froze further development, making it one of the rarest Open Class two-seaters ever built.

In CatchFlights

In CatchFlights the Lak LAK-20M starts as a Rare catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you.

A catch counts for the manufacturer Lak, the LAK-20M family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.

Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
