Lak LAK-17AT
The LAK-17AT is a high-performance, self-launching racing sailplane built by the Lithuanian manufacturer LAK, a motorised version of the pure glider LAK-17A developed for 15-metre Standard and Racing Class competition. Its retractable engine and propeller let a pilot self-launch and reposition without needing a tow plane, an advantage at competitions or home fields where towing isn't readily available. Built from carbon-fibre composite for a high glide ratio and low structural weight, it competes with established Western manufacturers' sailplanes on the world gliding championship circuit, and its success helped establish Lithuania as a serious source of competition glider designs after the country regained independence.
