Kubicek M-2 Scout
The M-2 Scout is a modern Czech light-sport aircraft from Kubicek Aircraft, a sister company of the well-known Kubicek hot-air-balloon maker, though the Scout itself is a conventional low-wing monoplane rather than a balloon. It updates the 1948 Mráz M-2 Skaut, a classic postwar Czechoslovak trainer, into a composite two-seater with a bubble canopy and fixed tricycle gear, first flying in May 2009. The name nods directly to its 1940s namesake while the airframe itself owes nothing structurally to the original wood-and-fabric design, illustrating how far Czech light-aircraft manufacturing has moved since then.

In CatchFlights
In CatchFlights the Kubicek M-2 Scout starts as a Rare catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you.
A catch counts for the manufacturer Kubicek, the M-2 Scout family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
