Kamov Ka-62
The Kamov Ka-62 is unusual for a Kamov helicopter because it uses a conventional main rotor and a shrouded Fenestron-style tail rotor rather than the company’s familiar coaxial rotors. It was designed as a fast medium twin for offshore, medical, and passenger transport, with a streamlined fuselage and retractable landing gear. Certification and supply-chain issues have delayed its entry into broad service. That makes the Ka-62 a rare modern departure from the design approach normally associated with Kamov.

Did you know?
About 60% of the Ka-62's structure by weight is composite material, unusually high for a Russian-built helicopter and a break from Kamov's traditionally metal designs.

In CatchFlights
In CatchFlights the Kamov Ka-62 starts as a Legendary catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you. The first catch of a legendary type pays a bonus of its own.
A catch counts for the manufacturer Kamov, the Ka-62 family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
