Jurca MJ-5 Sirocco
The Jurca MJ-5 Sirocco is a two-seat wooden homebuilt sport aircraft designed by Marcel Jurca, a former Henschel Hs 129 pilot, and first flown in 1962. Its tandem cockpit sits beneath a bubble canopy on a low-wing airframe recognisable by its distinctive upswept 'rooster tail', and builders could fit engines from 85 to 150hp depending on the performance they wanted. More than 80 were completed from plans Jurca sold internationally, including through a Canadian distributor. With a top speed near 190mph on modest power, it remained a popular amateur-built alternative to certified two-seat sport aircraft for decades.
