Jihlavan KP-2 Sova

Originally developed by Kappa 77 as the KP-2U Sova, this Czech ultralight first flew in May 1996 as an all-metal, low-wing, two-seat monoplane with Fowler flaps for a low stall speed and tricycle undercarriage. Jihlavan Aircraft built the type under contract from 1997 and took over full rights in 2005 before it was rebranded under the Skyleader name in 2008, making the KP-2 Sova the direct ancestor of today's Skyleader 200/600 series. Its riveted ultra-thin duralumin skin and integral fuel tanks were unusual construction choices for a homebuilt-class ultralight of its era.

In CatchFlights

In CatchFlights the Jihlavan KP-2 Sova starts as a Rare catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you.

A catch counts for the manufacturer Jihlavan, the KP-2 Sova family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.

Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
