Issoire PIK-30
The Issoire PIK-30 is a French-built self-launching single-seat glider that began life as a licence to produce the Finnish Eiri-Avion PIK-20E, before Issoire's own development work turned it into a distinct new type. A small Rotax 503 engine, mounted for self-launch and retrieval, lets pilots dispense with a tow plane or winch. Its wings and tail were built from GFRP sandwich panels with a PVC core, with wingtip extensions available to stretch span from 15 to 17 metres for extra performance. This flexibility made it a practical, self-sufficient cross-country sailplane for private owners.

In CatchFlights
In CatchFlights the Issoire PIK-30 starts as a Rare catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you.
A catch counts for the manufacturer Issoire, the PIK-30 family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
