Hindustan ALH Dhruv
The HAL Dhruv is India's first indigenously designed and built helicopter, developed to reduce the country's long-standing reliance on imported Russian and Western helicopter designs for its military and government fleets. Its bearingless, hingeless main rotor system, developed with German assistance, gives it strong agility for a utility helicopter of its size. It serves across the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard in troop transport, medical evacuation, and light attack roles, alongside a growing civilian and export presence. A dedicated armed version, the Rudra, and a purpose-built light combat derivative extend the same basic design into frontline attack duty.
