Harbin PS-5
The Harbin SH-5 is a Chinese amphibious maritime-patrol aircraft derived from the Soviet Be-6 flying boat. Its high wing, boat hull, and four turboprops were designed for long-range patrol, search-and-rescue, and anti-submarine missions from coastal waters. Only a small number were built, and the type never became common outside China. The SH-5 illustrates China’s early effort to create a domestic large amphibian before the later AG600 programme.

A firefighting conversion of this maritime patrol flying boat was redesignated PS-5, the water-bomber version of the same airframe.

In CatchFlights
In CatchFlights the Harbin PS-5 starts as a Legendary catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you. The first catch of a legendary type pays a bonus of its own.
A catch counts for the manufacturer Harbin, the PS-5 family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
