Embraer A-29
The Embraer A-29 Super Tucano is a turboprop light attack and advanced trainer aircraft, built to fly counter-insurgency and border-patrol missions at a fraction of the cost of operating a jet fighter for the same job. Its turboprop engine and relatively low operating cost have made it a popular choice for smaller air forces across Latin America, Africa, and Asia fighting insurgencies or drug-trafficking operations where a jet's speed and cost aren't the priority. The United States has used it to train partner-nation pilots specifically because of its similarity in handling to more advanced turboprop and jet trainers. It remains one of the most widely exported light attack aircraft in the world today.

In CatchFlights
In CatchFlights the Embraer A-29 starts as a Very rare catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you.
A catch counts for the manufacturer Embraer, the A-29 family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
