Dornier 328
The Dornier 328 is a pressurised regional turboprop, designed to offer a smoother, more comfortable ride at higher altitudes than many unpressurised turboprops of similar size. A later jet-powered version, the 328JET, replaced its propellers with small turbofans, turning it into one of the smallest regional jets ever put into service. Its six-abreast-adjacent, relatively wide cabin for its size gave passengers more comfort than many rival regional aircraft. Production has changed hands several times over the decades, with efforts ongoing to modernise and relaunch the design.
