Cirrus SR-22
The Cirrus SR22 has been the best-selling piston aircraft in the world for years, built around a composite airframe and, most distinctively, a whole-airframe parachute that can lower the entire aircraft to the ground in a serious emergency. Its side-stick controls and large glass cockpit displays were unusual for a piston single when introduced, giving it a noticeably more modern feel than traditional yoke-and-gauge competitors. That combination of safety technology and modern design has made it the aircraft of choice for many new owner-pilots entering general aviation. Cirrus continues to update and sell new SR22s today.

In CatchFlights
In CatchFlights the Cirrus SR-22 starts as a Common catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you.
A catch counts for the manufacturer Cirrus, the SR-22 family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.
Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
