Bell 204

The Bell UH-1, universally nicknamed the 'Huey', became the defining helicopter of the Vietnam War, used for troop transport, medical evacuation, and gunship duties. It was one of the first helicopters powered by a turbine engine rather than a piston engine, giving it more power for its weight than earlier designs. Its distinctive rotor sound became so iconic that it's still instantly recognisable in films set during that era. Many variants and derivatives remain in military and civilian service worldwide today, over 60 years after it first flew.

In CatchFlights

In CatchFlights the Bell 204 starts as a Rare catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you.

A catch counts for the manufacturer Bell, the 204 family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.

Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
