Ayres S-2R-T660 Turbo Thrush
The S2R-T660 is the largest of the Ayres Thrush turbine agricultural aircraft, powered by a 1,050 shp Pratt & Whitney PT6A-60AG engine and built around a welded steel-tube fuselage with fixed tailwheel gear. Its forward hopper holds 680 US gallons of chemical, or up to 750 gallons when configured for aerial firefighting, and the type cruises at over 150 knots between fields. Ayres Corporation put the T660 into production in 2000 at its Albany, Georgia plant, but only eight were completed before the company closed, making it one of the rarest members of the long-running Thrush agricultural aircraft family.
Did you know?
The T660 is a turbine crop duster that also flies wildfire work — one of the rarest in the Thrush family, with just eight built.
