Arion LS-1 Lightning
The Arion Lightning LS-1 is an American two-seat, low-wing light-sport aircraft first flown on 3 March 2006 and built primarily from composite materials. It began as a fast, low-wing design for Jabiru engines before Arion Aircraft stretched the wings to lower the stall speed and settled on a fixed-pitch propeller so it could meet US light-sport rules, earning its Special Light-Sport airworthiness certificate on 15 April 2009. With the standard 120-horsepower Jabiru 3300 engine, the Lightning cruises around 120 knots while climbing at over 1,200 feet per minute, performance that puts it near the top of the light-sport class.
