Antonov An-140

The Antonov An-140 was conceived as a modern replacement for Soviet-era regional turboprops such as the An-24. It used a high wing, rugged landing gear, and rear-mounted engines intended for poorly equipped regional airports. Production was split between Ukraine, Russia, and Iran, but political disruption and a fatal accident ended the programme before it reached scale. Its small production run makes it a much rarer sight than the older Antonov transports it was meant to replace.

In CatchFlights

In CatchFlights the Antonov An-140 starts as a Legendary catch. The tier is an editorial judgement of how special a sighting of this type is. The more often you catch it, the closer it moves to Common for you. The first catch of a legendary type pays a bonus of its own.

A catch counts for the manufacturer Antonov, the An-140 family and the model in your collection, and the daily Type Rating quiz asks about the types of each family.

Catch it yourself.CatchFlights shows the aircraft flying near you on a radar, so a type like this one is only a catch away when it passes overhead. Explore CatchFlights.
