Aeronca 11 Chief
The Aeronca 11AC Chief is an American two-seat light aircraft from 1946, built as the side-by-side-seating, yoke-controlled counterpart to Aeronca's tandem, stick-controlled 7AC Champion, letting Aeronca cover both the training and personal-flying markets with closely related airframes. Its 65-horsepower Continental engine gave a cruising speed around 90 knots, later raised with the 85-horsepower engine of the 11BC Chief and 11CC Super Chief variants. More than 2,300 were built between 1946 and 1950, and the Chief's welded steel-tube fuselage and fabric covering made it an easy aircraft for postwar flying clubs and private owners to maintain.
